Berkeley County Foundation for Education - Educational Excellence and Innovation
Mission Statement
The mission of the Berkeley County Foundation for Education - in partnership with individuals, businesses and the school district - is to provide financial resources for the pursuit of educational excellence and innovation

Building A Better Future

Proper education of our children will lead to a brighter future for our community. That's why we established the Berkeley County Foundation for Education.

The Foundation for Education is dedicated to funding the development of educational excellence in Berkeley County. We feel our students must have the best learning environment and our teachers must have access to the best tools to teach effectively. The Foundation is committed to providing resources to meet these goals.

The Berkeley County Foundation for Education was established in August 2000 as a non-profit organization under the S.C. Non-Profit Act of 1994. Charter board members represent civic, school, business and community leaders.

Formed specifically to provide an enriched educational experience for all students in Berkeley County, the Foundation:
• Receives contributions from individuals and corporations
• Promotes the improvement of education at all levels
• Fosters a positive community perception of education in Berkeley County
• Awards grants to teachers, schools and students for educational programs

All contributions or gifts-in-kind to the Foundation will directly enhance the educational experience of Berkeley County students. Our mission is to provide funding in addition to the general operating budget and federal funds. In fact, the Foundation operates independently of the school district. Therefore, your generosity will not replace current public funds - rather, these monies will provide the "extras" not otherwise available.

Once we have accumulated a number of donations, the Foundation may utilize this money for mini-grants, scholarships, new programs and special projects. Specialized grant review teams will make initial recommendations to the board of directors, who then make the final selection of funding recipients.

There are a number of ways to contribute to the Foundation. In the past, citizens and corporations have done the following to support our mission:
• Volunteer time or services
• Donate equipment or supplies
• Contribute financial gifts
• Fund a scholarship
• Designate memorial contributions
• Establish a school partnership
• Specify an area of interest

The Berkeley County Foundation for Education is a designated IRS Section
501(C)(3) organization under which your contributions are tax deductible.
